Location and venue

Avignon is a charming medieval city situated on the left bank of the Rhone River. Wikipedia has a very well documented page here. You'll find many travel tips here.
Weather is generally good in September, although intense thunderstorms can be experienced. Generate rainfall series and compute the probabilities !

Arriving in Avignon

By plane at Marseille airport: there are direct local trains from Marseille airport to Avignon. Find schedule here. The airport stop, called "Vitrolles Aéroport de Marseille", is accessible with a shuttle in front of the arrival hall of Terminal 3/4. Local trains stop at "Avignon-Centre".

By train: TGV arrive at the "Avignon-TGV". Find schedule here.  Shuttle service by local train every 30 minutes to the "Avignon-Centre" train station.

By car: ask your hotel for parking. Parking can be difficult in the center of the city.

 

Workshop venue

The workshop will take place on the main campus at the University of Avignon.

The campus is walking distance from any hotel located in the center of the city, i.e. within the walls.
